Dear Crew

Firstly, I would like to start this letter by expressing our deep sadness of the accident which occurred in Dover last weekend, we have sent our condolences and Pat has kindly posted some kind words and thoughts on the ORDA website.

The main purpose of the this letter is to provide you with information regarding Cowes 2009, which will conclude the Racing Season for V24, Class 3B and 3C RYA National Championships for 2009. There are other events taking place after the Cowes weekend, which will consist of Basic Racing, which I am sure some of you will like to participate in, along with the traditional Records week which is held in the Lake District during November 2009.

I enclose an Entry Form for the Cowes Festival, and I request you complete and return to BPRC along with your Entry Fee Direct, but would ask you let me know when you have done this. I have enclosed a stamped addressed envelope to enable you to send back your responses to keep me up to speed in preparing any documentation as I will be in Race Control to sign you all in.

The BPRC are also organising two parties at Cowes on the Friday night preceding race day for the Cowes Powerboat Festival, Saturday 29 August 2009. The first is a welcome reception at the Royal Yacht Squadron on the Friday evening that is no cost to competitors. This will be followed later by a Barbeque at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club at a cost of £20.00 per head; tickets are on a first come first served basis, which will be sent to you direct from Laura Levi upon receipt of payment. Laura address is: Sec. BPRC and BPRC Event Management, 83, High Street, Cowes Isle of Wight PO31 7AJ.

There is also an arrangement in place to enable you to book your Ferry by Red Funnel Ferries Southampton at a competitive rate, if you are happy to travel between 11.00 p.m. and 5.00 a.m. The price is £75.00 for the boat and tow vehicle and you need to quote code CCTP09 when making the booking.

I enclose one copy of Race Instructions which I have sent to Drivers, could you please ensure you share information with your crews to keep them up to date, or alternatively you can access details from the BPRC website. I will have additional copies in Race Control, which will be manned from Friday morning at the event. I have sent this letter to all crews to ensure communication is maintained.

On another note, ORDA organises an Annual Dinner Dance which consists of celebrating the champions of the ORDA Championship each year. We normally hold our AGM and Dinner Dance in January. Last year it was difficult to obtain commitment for our Dinner, which always ends up being a wonderful event, but we do need to ensure we have your full support to enable us to commit to running this function once again. We need 80 people to make this a viable event, and would like you to return the slip below indicating yes or no, so we can make a decision as to what type of function we will hold for the 2009 celebrations.

If we have sufficient uptake we will follow it up at Cowes and seek a £20.00 deposit from each crew/member.

Please find at the end of this letter a reply slip that I request you return to me detailing your entry for Cowes along with a response regarding the ORDA Dinner Dance for 2009/10
